Klaus Rostell
Maritime Counsellor at the Danish Embassy in Beijing

Mr. Rostell joined the Danish Embassy in Beijing in August 2021, since then he has been working on facilitating the maritime strategic sector cooperation between Denmark and China.


Before Mr. Rostell joined the Embassy he worked for nine years as Director of International Affairs at Danish Maritime-the Danish industry organization representing the national shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing industry.


Since the beginning of his career, Mr. Rostell has been in public service for 20 years, taking up different positions in the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Danish Maritime Authority, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish UN Mission in Geneva and in the European Commission in Brussels.


Recurrent themes throughout his career have been trade, maritime economics and policies, now with a strong focus to work with Chinese and Danish Authorities to reduce the maritime climate footprint and create a sustainable shipping industry.


Mr Rostell holds a Mater Degrees in Science in Economics and one in European Studies, both obtained from University of Copenhagen.
