Mr. Gilbert Feng graduated from Shanghai Maritime University in 1987 and joined HKSOA in 1994. He worked for Hong Kong Mingwah Shipping Co., Ltd (a subsidiary of China Merchants Group) as Deputy Manager of Legal & Claims Department, and Personal Assistant to Chairman. He has been directly involved in the post-1997 Hong Kong shipping arrangement negotiation between Hong Kong and Taiwan as a member of the HKSOA delegation with the Taiwan Cross Strait Association and Strait Exchange Foundation, and participated in meetings at ILO in the development of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 as an industry representative.
He participated in drafting several submissions to the central government and Hong Kong SAR government on the Free Trade Port Development in the Mainland and Cooperation with Hong Kong, the Cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong in the Pudong Lin-gang Special Area, and the Shipping Cooperation in the Greater Bay Area etc.
He is one of the conveners of the Hong Kong Maritime Week and has acted as consultant to the Seafarers Committee of the Asian Shipowners Association (ASA), secretary for the China Sub Committee.
He is the founders of the Alumni Association of Shanghai Maritime University in Hong Kong and currently acts as the Vice Executive Chairman and secretary general of the Association. He is also the visiting professor of Shanghai Maritime University and Wuhan CSC Marine College. Mr. Feng is former Chairman from 2018 to 2020 of the Port Welfare Committee of the Hong Kong SAR government, member of the Task Force of the Maritime Week of the Maritime and Port Board and Fung Shui Area Committee of Hong Kong SAR government, a member of the Transport Logistics Training Board of Vocational Training Council, a member to the Executive Committee of the Institute of Sea-transport.
He is an advisor at the Maritime and R&D Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and visiting professors of Shanghai Maritime University and Wuhan CSC Marine College.
