Mervyn Chen has successfully handled many complex and significant cases for shipowners, P&I clubs home and abroad, insurance companies, shipyards, major airlines, integrated logistics companies, importers and exporters, and financial leasing companies, and has represented clients in major foreign commercial cases before arbitration bodies in London, Singapore and China's Hong Kong. He is highly regarded by clients, courts and judicial authorities, and many of the cases he has handled have been published as model cases.

Mervyn is currently the deputy director of the Maritime and Commercial Research Committee of All China Lawyers Association, the legal advisor of the CPC Shanghai Pudong New Area Committee, Pudong New Area People's Government and the Administration Committee of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the arbitrator of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, and the special mediator of the Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center, etc.
